NEW DELHI, JUNE 19: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday said the admission by a Maoist leader vindicated the party’s charge that the Trinamool Congress was behind the Lalgarh violence in West Bengal.
Left Front chairman Biman Basu, here to attend the party Polit Bureau meeting, said here that the statement by a senior Maoist leader proved what the party had been saying. He said the game plan of the Trinamool Congress and its rainbow coalition stood exposed. His comments came even as the Congress attacked the party for levelling such an allegation.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister A.K. Antony ruled out the possibility of sending armed forces to fight Maoists in Lalgarh area. Talking to journalists here, Mr. Antony said the armed forces could only extend logistic support to the State police and paramilitary forces, already engaged in tackling the naxal menace.
